The story goes that he had a flat and changed the tire himself, however he was taught to tighten the wheel nuts and then come back a quarter turn. Took about 100km on dirt roads for it to get to this..

From what he told me, it’s a hill in a steel mill that he hauls for and he was loaded. Supposedly all the drivers have a tough time going up this hill and all you hear is “chugga chugga chugga” because all the trucks want to die out lol.

What’s funny is that I opened the one box that had the rotor just to make sure they were right. Proceeded to clean and prep everything. Grabbed the next box and knew it didn’t feel right, had a “ah shit here we go again” moment

...On his lift he has a 200? white Ford Expedition. He guides me to the front passenger wheel well, the wheel and tire have been removed and are on the floor. Then he points up to the fender.

I stick my head up into the wheel well and look up towards the fender, and there it is. A large plastic and taped wrapped package, clearly containing a white brick. It’s very large, like 8"x10"x3". It’s heavily taped to the inside of the fender.

I look at Kenny and he looks at me.

Kenny: Cocaine.

2018 F150 platinum...

He’s already paying for a new APIM, FCIM, FDCIM, labor to replace those, and around 13 hours labor for rewiring the harness behind the dash. Tech hasn’t found the round yet, just the holes

...it’s a preliminary quote. And these pieces are easy enough to take apart to see if wires behind are damaged. Tech popped it out on the drive to see if the modules stopped the round or if it kept going. It went straight through the screen and modules behind it so the tech quoted hours to fix wiring and the guy agreed with his tail tucked behind his ass.

There are 12 open recalls on this car. I am doing valve springs and cam gears in this picture. Compressed air holds the valves up so springs can be removed with the heads on. Air to entire bank keeps the valves up and engine from rotating...

When they first came out they had several recalls. Valve springs, cam gears, fuel lines, gas pedal, and steering rack They had several recalls dealing with the fuel lines. One from ppl not following the procedures when reassembling. This customer just never had any of them done. A lot of this time overlapped and really worked in my favor.

Customer calls and asks if she can bring her car by for a price on brake pads, because the car has been making noise for a few days. She says she doesn’t want us to change ANYTHING but the brake pads because she “Knows enough about cars to not get ripped off just because she’s a woman”.

Axle, hub (what hub?), caliper, pads, one rotor, knuckle. She ended up having it towed to some shop on the east side of Detroit that told her we were ripping her off and they could fix it for $300.

God bless.

Some guy ran out of gas and landed his plane in the middle of the road in front of Jiffy Lube. So they pushed it into their parking lot to clear the road for traffic.

just in case anyone is curious:

He’s already paying for a new APIM, FCIM, FDCIM,

APIM: Accessory Protocol Interface Module, which is the SYNC module

FCIM: Front Controls Interface Module: the control panel with all of the radio and climate control buttons

FCDIM: Front Control and Display Interface Module: the small centerstack display for lower trim vehicles.

edited to add:  I think this guy is slightly mistaken; a Platinum wouldn’t have an FCDIM; that display module is paired with SYNC Gen 1 which is only equipped on XLT and lower.  The 8" display is passive (not on CAN) and doesn’t get a node ID.  Sounds like the owner shot right through the screen which would have taken out the SYNC module right behind it.

There is something befuddling about a person that is so convinced that they’re being ripped off that they refuse to believe their own eyes. You don’t have to be a mechanic to know that car needed more than brake pads.

How do you put the lug nuts on backwards? Did they spin them all on with an open end wrench?

Or a crow’s foot. At least t hat way you could use a torque wrench, or ( theoretically) an impact.
